Morehead State University is where my future is beginning August 2017. I can say this with confidence now. I struggled for a long time to decided where the next four years of my life should be spent, but I know that Morehead will make me happy. I'll be rooming with my best friend, Bailey, and majoring in Morehead's very exciting English program. The funny thing is, when I actually went on the official campus tour for Morehead, I was fully convinced it was not for me. Now, this was not because I didn't like the campus or couldn't see myself there. It was actually due to my stubbornness and desire to make a decision for once. Because I was sure I wanted to attend a Christian college, I went into the tour assuming that I wouldn't be coming back. This is not the best way to start a campus tour, let me tell you! The day itself was a complete disaster. It was raining, we arrived 30 minutes late, and I spent the majority of the afternoon generally irritated with the world. I was not willing to hear any positive things about the college, so, of course, I didn't. I could tell you a thousand good things about it now, don't worry. It is crazy to think that I allowed myself to be so narrow-minded at the time. I was so focused on just choosing a school already that I didn't notice the perfect school right in front of me. As I began to doubt Lindsey Wilson more and more, Morehead began invading my thoughts at an alarming rate. It had also become prevalent to me that I thrive when I am surrounded by my best friends. The thought of leaving them both next year had been eating me up inside, and I began to realize that nothing was forcing me to leave anyone. Morehead had been in my list of schools for years before then, but my determination to go to a Christian school had blinded me to the possibility of Morehead. After doing some intense research in the days that followed my realization, I began to grasp how much more excited I was at the thought of attending MSU than any other college I had researched. Morehead's English program peaks my interest more than any other I considered, the student organizations they offer can not be competed with, and most of the expenses will be covered through financial aid and scholarships. I have never been more excited about a university, and I am so excited to move forward with the enrollment process. *UPDATE: I plan to return for Registration at the end of April. I will be applying for housing, choosing my classes, and more. The anxiety that I once felt when college crossed my mind has been replaced with a sense of peace. I see college as a source of joy and opportunity now, and cannot wait to become an Eagle this fall. My financial aid went through to Morehead, as well. It's official: I'll be attending MSU for free in the fall. Earning an $8,000 scholarship from Morehead, as well as applying for the FAFSA, have provided me with the means to pay for the expenses of college. Everything seems to be working out, and the future is a clear and bright one.

AuthorLet's face it: high school is both good and bad. I choose to focus on the good, generally. I'll choose to do the same here. |
