Don't worry, I have a plan. Let's face it: the arts are looked down upon in today's society. It's all about the STEM fields. Don't get me wrong -- I understand the importance of these careers; they make the world a safe, healthy, and innovative place. However, the arts are what make life worth living. Art gives us purpose, and I for one have found my purpose within the subject of English. My ultimate goal is to become a writer, but I have also always had a passion for helping others. I'll be majoring in English Education, hoping to teach grades 8-12. There are many teachers in my life that have influenced me in such a positive way; I hope to do the same for other students someday. I hope to learn from my students, and use my experiences to develop my own novels. These are my goals for the future, but I am not blind to the difficulty of achieving my goals. I am just taking this one step at a time. To begin, I'll be attending Morehead State University in the fall, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English Education at the secondary level. Hopefully, I will have some time to read and write along the way. As for now, I'm enjoying my last few months of high school. I'll be soaking it all in, spending as much time as I can surrounded by the people and places of Shepherdsville, KY, that I have come to love so dearly over the past 18 years.
